Food Research and Development Lab Technician

£28,000 – £32,000 DOE

Are you looking for a lab based role with an innovative, sustainability focused start-up? Do you have a relevant degree and strong lab experience?

 

A start-up in York are seeking a Lab Technician to join the team to support them as they continue develop and head towards commercialisation of an innovative food product. Ideally you will have a Bachelors or higher in Chemistry, Food Science, Plant Science or another closely related discipline, as well as some experience of working in a lab such as a placement year in industry.

 

Role Overview

  • Permanent, Full time. Based in York. £28-32k DOE.
  • Support with lab based research and development activities.
  • Extraction , purification and analysis of plant derived samples.
  • Analytical testing including viscosity, moisture, spectrophotometry and HPLC, among others.
  • Provide support around the lab as required and be adaptable to requirements.

 

 

Requirements

  • BSc or above in Chemistry, Biochemistry Plant/Food Science or a closely related scientific discipline.
  • Strong basic Lab Skills, developed ideally from time in an industrial role (such as a placement). Experience gained from MRes would be considered.
  • Experience with HPLC and other analytical instruments.
  • Desirable : knowledge of microbiology and fermentation and experience specifically with plant based samples or carbohydrate analysis.
