Pharmaceutical Industry Overview

The pharmaceutical industry makes up the part of the medical sector that is involved with the development, manufacture and marketing of medicinal products, including veterinary medicines and medical devices. These products aim to prevent, treat and cure diseases, as well as maintain health in animals and humans. 

The regulations surrounding the pharmaceutical industry are very strict and are required to monitor the safety and efficacy of the manufactured medicines.  International Regulatory Bodies that cover the pharmaceutical industry include; the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency) in the United Kingdom, the WHO (World Health Organisation) and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) of the USA.
