Job Description

Our client, a power station which supplies the 6% of the country’s electricity needs, is looking to employ a Laboratory Analyst on a 6 months temporary contract.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise unloading of chemicals, ensuring accordance with site procedures.
  • Maintain stock levels of laboratory equipment, reagents and chemicals.
  • Helping the Laboratory Co-ordinator where required.
  • Plan and conduct workload in a professional manner.
  • Working under supervision and also on your own initiative when appropriate.
  • Maintain housekeeping and high standards of safety.
  • Prepare, plan and execute laboratory analysis, sampling & calibration procedures for processes.
  • Set expectations to improve quality of service.
  • Assist and support both on and off-site duties undertaken across all chemistry team areas such as sampling, testing of environmentally related systems and occupational hygiene monitoring.
  • Performing testing services accurately and professionally to produce precise results to meet customers expectations and following the UKAS ISO17025 quality system.
  • Compile results and analytical reports and communicate effectively.
  • Support and develop new testing procedures and protocols.
  • Being involved in training and development.
  • Achieve continued improvement and contribute to the Chemistry Team.

The successful individual will have experience in laboratory testing and have knowledge and skills to support work on new and developing techniques. Having experience in operating technically advanced testing equipment, including ICP-MS; Ion Chromatography is also required for this position. Having a good knowledge of sampling and analysis requirements to UKAS ISO17025 Standard is ideal but not essential. You must have your own transport as the site isn’t accessible with public transport.
