Job Description

Our client, a successful and ambitious preclinical service company who provides niche safety and efficacy screening services to a range of industries, is looking to recruit a Senior Business Development Manager to continue their growth. This is a pivotal role for the business and provides an exceptional opportunity for the right individual to play a huge part in the future success of the company.

Key responsibilities and competencies include:

  • Identifying, contacting and qualifying new sales leads, arranging and attending face-to-face meetings
  • Providing feedback from the market and input into the design of the company’s products and solutions
  • Presenting company solutions, writing compelling proposals, and negotiating and closing contracts
  • Providing monthly forecasts and achieve new client and revenue targets in line with the company’s monthly, quarterly and annual business plan targets
  • Maintain up-to-date CRM records of all customer contacts
  • Account management of existing customers for creating additional contracts, testimonials and case studies
  • Providing monthly detailed market intelligence reports
  • Market research to identify new leads and potential new markets
  • Contacting potential clients via phone or email to establish rapport and set up initial qualified meetings
  • Working closely with the CEO and other staff, and involving them to progress each sales opportunity
  • Input into the marketing, messaging and sales processes
  • Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events to promote the company and engage with potential prospects
  • Preparing compelling PowerPoint presentations and sales displays
  • Developing quotes and proposals
  • Negotiating and closing contracts by phone, email and face-to-face
  • Contributing expertise and leadership to enable company employees to learn more about the business development process

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and influencing skills, alongside effective presentation skills. Formal qualifications in a life science/business discipline is essential for this role, as is previous exposure to the pre-clinical market. Having self-confidence to present to new and existing senior customers and having strong PC and mobile skills is preferred but not essential. The ideal person will be target driven and highly focussed on the achievements of financial targets.
