Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and flexible Microbiologist to join the Microbiology division of a specialised contract testing laboratory. This is a unique opportunity to join the testing team in its infancy and grow with the company. The successful individual will be involved in the implementation and delivery of the department’s services in line with customer requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing microbiology testing in accordance with ISO/IEC17025:2005 and regulations specified by the client
  • Reviewing, developing and optimising testing methodologies
  • Undertaking management or supervisory responsibilities where appropriate
  • Contributing to the efficient day-to-day running of the laboratory

The successful individual will have practical experience performing Microbiological testing in a regulated environment. They will also be educated to degree level or higher in a relevant scientific discipline such as Microbiology or Biological Sciences. Previous experience in the specific testing for E. coli, yeast or mould would prove advantageous. Individuals must be able to display a sound technical understanding of microbiological testing standards within the food or pharmaceutical service industries. Previous contract testing experience and an ability to work efficiently in a high throughput environment is highly desirable.
