Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit a Laboratory Operational Manager to work at their GXP accredited Pharma Services facility in Manchester. You will lead one of 4 analytical teams, specialising in oligonucleotide analytics to support their clients in the pharmaceutical industry.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing operational management and leadership to a team of up to 40 analysts providing analytical services to customers in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical sectors in a GLP, GCP and GMP regulated laboratory.
  • To report weekly and monthly financial and quality KPIS to Manchester’s senior management team.
  • Taking responsibility for maximizing staff utilization, the quality and timeliness of reports as well as financial planning within the team.
  • Providing review to ensure technical correctness, with the support of technique experts, of all reports originating from the team.  This may encompass a broad range of analytical techniques including, but not limited to, chromatography, mass spectrometry, NMR, cell based assays, immunoassays and bioanalytical techniques.
  • Providing information on project content, timelines and schedule to the Business Development team for inclusion in proposals and quotations.  To ensure that such programs as translated into the laboratory with maximum efficiency to ensure the requirements of the client are met.
  • To maintain an awareness of the progress of all work programs within their team and ensure clients and Intertek management are kept up to date with any changes.
  • To report weekly and monthly financial and quality KPIS to Manchester’s senior management team.
  • Good IT literacy skills.
  • Experience of operational delivery team management, including team leadership and budgeting.
  • Experience of leading a multi-technique, multi skilled team.
  • Demonstrable experience within analytical science encompassing one or more of the following: chromatography based methods, mass spectrometry based techniques, NMR, cell based assays, immunoassays and bioanalytical techniques.
  • Proven experience in the supervision and coordination of analytical projects performed by junior staff in a regulatory environment 
  • Comprehensive experience of working in a GxP regulatory laboratory essential. Strong understanding in GMP, GLP, GCP, GxP.
