UK to Remain Open to Top Scientists

Good news for all those scientific businesses in the UK concerned about the Brexit ‘brain drain’ and their talent attraction after the transition period ending December 2020.

The government has announced that they will open a new fast-track visa process as of next month to ensure the UK remains a desirable location for the world’s top scientists.

Under this new Global Talent route there will be no cap on the numbers of visas for suitably qualified people able to come to the UK.

The Global Talent route replaces the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) route and will be managed by the UKRI (UK Research and Innovation Agency) rather than the Home Office to ensure these assessments are fast-tracked by qualified assessors, rather than immigration officials.

In addition, the government has announced it will introduce an Australian-style points-based system by January 2021.

I know we are not the only organisation in the country to be delighted (and relieved) to hear this! For further information, please visit:
