Skilled regulatory compliance employees across the food manufacture industry seem to be in demand at the moment. A high amount of Food and Beverage manufacturers seem to be recruiting for compliance and regulatory roles within their businesses, but what has caused this sudden call for skilled regulatory professionals?
Brexit is thought to have a small part in causing the interest in this area, triggering manufacturers to strengthen their regulatory teams by bringing in new hires. However, it isn’t the main reason for the boost in regulatory and compliance positions.
Public perception seems to be the main factor forcing producers to increase their teams and create more specific job roles to deal with complex and important legislation. With consumers making more informed buying decisions and their demand for more transparency, it is more important than ever for manufacturers to cover all bases.
According to law firm RPC, product recalls have risen 40% year-on-year to 31 October 2018, this is another reason for the increase in regulatory roles as Food and Beverage manufacturers amplify their ability to tick each and every box.
An FSA (Food Standards Agency) spokesperson feels that the increase in recruitment is a positive thing, they commented: “Ultimately, it is the responsibility of all food businesses to ensure that their food is safe. It is encouraging to see businesses taking that seriously, including, where appropriate, creating dedicated roles in their teams to ensure they are meeting their obligations.”.
