Job of the Week - Territory Sales Manager – Laboratory Products


Location – South East UK

Salary – £28-32K plus commission and company car

So, you are building up a huge inventory or biological samples that you need to store. Perhaps you are a recognised Bio-Bank that need to keep samples for extended periods of time. My client has the answer to your sample storage and tracking requirements. They have worked with 2D barcoded sample tubes since 2000 and are now launching their own range of 2D tubes, 2D barcode readers, de-capping, capping and handling equipment. They are a new company with innovative solutions looking to recruit a Territory Sales Manager to help drive sales growth.

You will be based in the south of England, ideally near to the “Golden Triangle” of Cambridge, Oxford and London, although this is not critical.

Your role will be to increase sales revenue and profitability for the company through effective sales activities, focusing on developing new and growing existing accounts within the Biobanking, Hospital and University Research departments, Biotech and Pharma companies, as well as identifying new markets.

The role is 100% sales focused. 80% of your time you will be identifying, qualifying and developing new sales opportunities and relationships with potential customers to generate sales to meet or exceed your targets. You will organise mini exhibitions of products at customer sites, follow up leads and ensure that comprehensive information and support is provided to customers.

Essential requirements of the ideal candidate:

  • Educated to Degree level or higher in a Life Sciences subject (Molecular Biology or related)
  • Practical lab experience, ideally with sample storage knowledge.
  • Full driving license, able to travel 4 days per week.
  • Evidence of being an enthusiastic self-starter who is results orientated.
  • Self-motivated, passionate and tenacious.
  • Highly organised with good presentation skills for demonstrations and sales calls.
  • A career-minded, resilient person who learns quickly.
  • Demonstration of the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Integrity and respect for others.

If you have experience in selling consumables within the Life Sciences field with a track record of sales success and knowledge of the customers and accounts, then that would be great. However, laboratory scientists that understand the need for sample tracking and have the commercial drive and interpersonal skills to be successful in sales are also encouraged to apply.
